The first thing that will strike a visiting golfer is the size of the trees that line the lush fairways of the Cowichan Valley Club. Don't feel embarrassed if you stare for a good long time at the grandeur of the giant firs, spruce and cedars. The greens are large and true, the fairways are wide-cut to allow for a generous landing area. Speaking of taking in the panorama of the large trees, don't be surprised if you see a bald eagle overhead. Take it as a good omen that the eagle chose to fly over you at such an opportune time. Also check out the club's insignia, where a handsome looking eagle is watching over things.

Although the back tees place just over 6,000 yds., this course will test all the clubs you might have in your bag. Don't be surprised if you're out a club or two in your thinking. Large trees either lining a fairway for standing at attention round a bunkered green, can often change a golfers sense of length. Trust the card and not your eyes.

A word of advise. If your days allows for a bit of sight seeing, consider stopping off in Duncan which is only 10 minutes further down the road. The first nations museum, carvings and various art forms are definitely worth a stop.

The golf club has a full length practice area, large practice putting green. The clubhouse can accommodate 200 people for either conference or banquet needs.
